There is no indication that this is cheaper than the concrete blocks we use. I think it's even more expensive.
This is the red soil that full Igboland and the whole Nigeria. Right under our feet. You still de complain. Something you can actually build with your own hands. Na why government de gba you. How much do you think it will cost government to build two bedroom bungalow with cement compared to red brick you can mix with sand, put in frame and fire in a kiln?

What's the cost of this compare to cement?
That is made from the earth you are currently standing on.

It's still expensive chief. You can speak with those in the construction industry. Bricks is not cheap.

There's been discussions about it in the construction thread here on nairaland. It's been a long time since I last visited, so do not have the patience to search it out. But you can look it up and see for yourself.

In developed nations they have a lot of houses built with wood and many of the people complaining have relatives leaving in a building built with wood in overseas.

It’s because people who can do it are not a lot. This is where Nigeria government should step in through skill acquisition as opposed to trying to teach people how to do Fx trading. Even you, can make all the bricks for your own house. We are blessed with the right soil for it. You can’t blame artisans who take advantage of Nigerians ignorance and desire for luxurious things. Plus if they don’t put big price on it, you will look down on it. Whereas that brick can last over 100years with little issues. It will reduce electricity use because it keeps the house cool when it’s hot outside. See a simple way to make it. Very very easy. But to reinforce it and make it strong, it’s better to treat it with fire. This should be the easiest and cheapest way and we should be building most of our houses this way. China even use the same clay to make roof sheets and they have lasted 100’s of years. In fact you can lift the bricks and tiles from old houses and reuse, that is how strong and durable they are. And they are fireproof. All this soil we walk on and shit on everyday.

You can start by reviewing permits .. I mean someone in a farm settlement just need a cover house, so baboo might be cost saving, but if no approval giving it becomes a problem, others might be okay with container house while others might just want to build a wood house.

What is wrong with bamboo houses as low cost, affordable housing?

Bamboo houses? When other African countries are building condominiums for the poor.
Russia has dismantled its condominiums as number of poor people diminished in Russia.

FG buys STREET LIGHT for N393bn

FG renovates ICC with N39bn

And the termites say, 'aye'.... grin

Why didn't they think of this before renovating the ICC for a reported 32 billion. We will have saved a mountain load of change.... oh I guess Julius Berger does not specialize in straw works.

And I just , the 'poor' man has no hope in hell of reaching it's gates.

Never seen such a socio-econmically skewed country as this.

Just don't know what will provoke the average citizen to end this charade and kick these people into the dustbin of historical infamy.

The insult and abuse of the common man and his timidity in response will be legendary in the annals of global history.

FG have huge money to built infrastructure for themselves. And besides, shettima apartment isn't his own personal apartment, it's FG apartment. If shettima leaves, other Vice president will use that apartment too.

It's a good development plan but not in a country like Nigeria where insecurities, banditry, kidnapping n armed robbery is the order of the day

No I don't. However if the statement offends the recipient's sensibilities then maybe it will make them reflect on how subjecting others to that same offense might not be a good thing.
