"Furthermore, I also confer posthumous national honours on Ken Saro Wiwa (CON), the leader of the Ogoni Nine and his fellow travellers, Saturday Dobee (OON), Nordu Eawo (OON), Daniel Gbooko (OON), Paul Levera (OON), Felix Nuate (OON), Baribor Bera (OON), Barinem Kiobel (OON), and John Kpuine (OON). I shall also be exercising my powers under the prerogative of mercy to grant these national heroes a full pardon, together with others whose names shall be announced later in conjunction with the National Council of State."

Pardoning Ken Saro Wíwà and conferring national honours on him and the Ogoni9 is quite thoughtful.

Not just thoughtful, it was the right thing to do. He has buried Abacha in eternal shame with this act.

The Ogoni9 will never be forgotten for their bravery.

Why didn't past governments didn't see the huge reservoir of goodwill in pardoning the Ogoni9 all these years? Munafiki Obj would never have done it, anyway.

Tinubu is strategically placing himself in the good books of some block votes. No doubt.

Ken Saro-Wiwa ( 1995) led a peaceful movement for the environmental and human rights of Nigeria’s Ogoni people whose oil-rich land has been exploited by multinational oil companies. The Nigerian government executed Saro-Wiwa in 1995.
ogboni land should be clearer to fully honour ken saro

Igbo Obidients (the core of the movement) do not love Ken Saro Wiwa - he was one of the figures that led the expulsion of Biafrans and seizures of their properties after the civil war on of what he and other Riverarians viewed as exploitative expansionism.

In fact, many do not know that Ken Saro Wiwa wrote a book on the misfortunes of the Biafran minorites in the course of the war.

Why should people be pardoned for a crime which they never committed in the first place and were unjustly and wickedly sacrificed for?

Review the case and declare them innocent

Tinubu should have used this opportunity to grant state pardon to Nnamdi KANU,ipob leader under incarceration.

The ovation would have been loudest and provide the window for national reconciliation.
He has missed the opportunity.

Leaders all over the world gauge the mood of the nation and act accordingly. The Nnamdi KANU case is a sore on our national psyche and Deep divide on national integration.

Tinubu got this wrong!

As per abacha and the governmentin power during that era, they commited a crime. So they need to be pardoned.

Nnamdi kanu is a terrorist and many igbos lost their lives due to his terrorism activities.
If Kanu is pardoned, then we might as well pardon all thr criminals currserving jail in kirikiri and other prisons across Nigeria.
