Same here. Was just refused a second time, even with active UK visa. First time they said I did not provide enough evidence. Now I packed all the evidence and still got refused. Waiting for the GCM note.

I think they should make it clear that canada no longer accepts tourists from Nigeria. So that Nigerians stop wasting time and money applying.

I helped her renew her U.S. visa through Dropbox before applying for her Canadian visa because I know that if your U.S. visa is not current, they may not expedite the process as they usually would. I think you should have renewed your U.S. visa before applying for the Canadian one.

It's a dicey one, not much room for legal manoeuvre as there is no right of appeal or review.

There is however a chance that given the news being picked up by the BBC and Guardian, the university will relent on those who have paid up outstanding fees and re-enrol them.

"...news being picked up by the BBC and Guardian.." I noticed that you wrote the bolded/quoted twice now. What's the implication? Does it always lead to positive outcomes?

Yeah, it’s possible if applying to jobs that can sponsor.

To me the easiest would probably be applying to jobs on the Civil service website(target EO, HEO, SEO roles) which hopefully they should be able to sponsor or NHS. But the former is more fair and transparent in their recruitment process based on my own opinion anyway and experience.

A close friend would probably be switching soon, Would let you know.

Just make sure you remove information like location from your cv.

Say for instance

You once worked as a Customer service representative in Zenith Bank in Lagos

You don’t need to put Zenith Bank, lagos, Nigeria.

Just remove those location.

Customer Service Representative- Zenith Bank.

Don’t put location., etc.

Same with your Uk jobs, you don’t need to put location as well.

Make sure you include that your care experience in your cv, it doesn’t matter.

Wish you good luck

But both the civil service practice skill test and situational test can be frustrating. Somehow difficult to , SAD. Any guide, please?

Hang in there....

Fact is many coming in via care route would in 5 years be better off than the a good number paying thousands for masters. The introduction and success of psw has shown that the economic viability of many masters programmes is the 2 yr work opportunity they give. In the end, most migrants pay in search of a better life.
Also with care your visa fees are less, sponsorship more liberal and you don't have to pay IHS.

There are bottle necks, but know your strengths and leverage.
If married, you can seek any sponsored role job in the NHS. The NHS has good maternity leave allowance and pay. Most of your 5 years (before ilr) could be spent on mat leave. Your partner OTOH, would have the free room to work wherever. With certain roles, he could set up and work via a limited company which is significantly more tax efficient when planned well.

If single, maximise that and don't be hesitant to move (even outside). Most masters students would pick up jobs in the towns they live. You could move to other counties with more need. Irrespective of the poor pay, with care you can work virtually unlimited hours with your main sponsor - an opportunity many other roles lack. You could target less stressful roles. The visa numbers might soon be culled and vacancies would reappear. Looks for ways to upskill- there are an increasing number of opportunities which keep opening up e.g teaching recently. You could work your way from a carer to a HCA to a nurse. Now, there is a push towards apprenticeship and folks can work as a HCA and at same time train to be a nurse (visa limitations might apply). In mental health, work is less and pay is more. You can better target your approach once in the system. Network and very importantly, have a driven clique of friends.

This country has opportunities. Target them.

Please how can a Nigeria train staff nurse/midwife already in the UK as a student dependent get a specialize training in mental health or acute care?

When it time to apply for indefinite, for the adult they would count number of days stayed and should be 5 years for working visa and no more than 180 days away ...however for kids all you need is just do their visa. They don't even need to be in UK for less say 5 years. Once the parent get they get ....

Quote from home office guidelines

Dependant children are not subject to limits on absences

Thanks for the info

LagosismyHome:

Look at some countries in Europe, the ones that have free education for international student. It would be closer to home (UK) and no strike

Just make sure any child almost close to 18 that you do their visa. Even if they don't live in UK, absence don't count for children so doesn't matter but you must do the visa or they lose it over 18 and have not applied

@ LagosismyHome. Profound thanks. However, pls explain what you mean by absence don't count for children? Does it count for an adult? As in if a spouse comes in, collects BRP and other necessary documentation but move back to Nigeria for like 3 - 5 months, is there any implication?

Thanks Chreze for always having me in mind.
I appreciate the all responses (Healthyliving, Umarwy and Pearlyfaze) on my issue. I cherished the sincere advices.

I am already working out on keeping the kids here but will like to give more insight.

My 16yr kid will turn 17 by April and was in final class in Nigeria b4 we moved. He is expected to for WAEC latest tomorrow, write WAEC & JAMB before June. I have not be able to secure permanent accommodation yet and all my kids are not back to school after 3wks in Scotland. I am just thinking allowing him to return will give additional opportunity to possibly apply to any other university/college outside UK. I know that will be at a cost.

@ Maturedhustler.
I am in the same situation presently. Coming to UK via study route. Plan to be in UK this year with my daughter who will be resuming in her final class here in Nigeria this September and therefore due to write her WAEC exam in May/June next year. Pls how did you resolve the issue of your own 16 yrs kid mentioned above?

Now you're talking. MSc Adult Nursing is very competitive, hence specific requirements. As it is, a decision has been made already so not sure if it can be changed. 4 whatever it is worth, I suggest you send the new result with WAEC scratch card

I wanted studying medicine that was the reason I had to resit waec in my 100 level.

I never checked the result for the new waec because I couldn't study medicine again, I continued with my course I got itted into.

How do I explain to avoid issues or suspicious because my result is genuine.

What's your English grade in the old WAEC? Where did you get the information that you need C4 in English to get itted to Derby? If you've C6 in English, Derby will surely give you an offer
