Correcting the errors made by the military will be one of Tinubu's best achievements. Honoring those who were brutalized during the military years is a good one.

Shatap! If Tinubu was in-charge, he would have done the same or even worse.

Kenule Saro Wiwa didn't understand Nigeria's politics.
Abacha, unlike Babangida listened to Saro Wiwa and even offered him the position of petroleum minister.

Saro Wiwa declined and insisted on full control of Ogoni resources.

A prominent chief, chief Kobani and others felt Abacha was too rigid with the government and decided to accept offers from both Shell and the FG, Some Youths of Ogoni heard about the betrayal and attack them during a meeting injuring several people and killing four, including chief Kobani.

The government swung into action and used the opportunity to accuse, and arrest and silence Saro Wiwa for good.

Note that Saro Wiwa was not even in the country when the incident took place, but he came back to answer the charges against him.

Thank you for sharing this. Too many evils in this country. I highly doubt if this country can someday be great. A lot of evil minded people inhabiting this country.

Good write up to educate the Indomie generation about the Ogoni struggle.

Many people only know about the key player "Ken Sarowiwa" but now knows some other key participants.

They don't know they only know about Obi and 2023 election thereby abusing people. All due to lack of history in school

Hmmmm while Abacha may remain a bad person in so many people's minds, especially those who where adults during his regime, only God knows the amount of atrocities going in silently in this democracy regimes

IBB could have help begged Abacha but he didn't. Buhari was chairman of petroleum trust fund at that time during Abacha but the dude has his agenda.

I ed it like yesterday, watching it OSRC TV
Those men and Nigerians thought the military of Abacha will only jail but Abacha wants to set an example for everyone that tried to challenge him.

Abacha is a very brutal person unlike IBB

Ken Saro Wiwa was a Civilian of Nigerian government during the Biafran war. Sounds familiar? When you think about Ken Wiwa, think about those who were sympathetic to Boko Haram's cause at inception, and then the aftermath. The good people of Benue State who embraced the North are currently collecting their own wotowoto. Ken dined with the devil and refused to come with a long spoon.

He thought he had friends in Nigerian government but profits from oil merchandise sured friendship. Abacha nailed him to the cross and damned the "arrangee" consequences.

Abacha is not Fulani. He is Kanuri in present day Bornu. He was born and raised in Kano though family is from Bornu.

Toor and the region they died for today have gave birth to so many so called activists, who later became goverment officials they only collect money without developing their region..... If u look at d budget of those states, you will wonder why their people still wallow in poverty and many of their youths jobless....
That same oil spillage has made Tompolo, Dokubo and others billionaires today.
The only people bearing the brunt are the poor.

May we not die in vain.

Their killing was politically motivated and their pardon is also politically motivated.
Pardoning people for sins not committed is begging the question. They should have been cleared instead.

I can still recall the 'Ogoni nine case'. It made headlines on every tabloid. Ken Saro Wiwa, your legacy still lives on! Now that I think about it, Before Ken Saro Wiwa, there was another activist called Isaac Adaka Boro. I once read a book about him titled: 'The man who died'. I think it was authored by Wole Soyinka. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Adaka Jaspa Boro was a different person from the persona in THE MAN DIED, which is Wole Soyinka's personal prison notes.

Abacha, na God go judge you, Obasanjo self almost kpai in the hands of Abacha
God already judged him. He lost his first son, Ibrahim Abacha , less than a year after in plane crash. He himself lost his life in mysterious circumstances 3 years after, ushered out of power he so much sought to keep, in ignominy.

exactly also festus keyamo, they've succeeded in brainwashing d youths of that region.... If u ask any of them question on why they have oil and are still suffering, they'll tell you it's d federal government and Northerners stealing their money.... But d thieves are right there amongst them
